Planning events can be stressful, whether you are the event planner or the guest of honor.

As an event planner, you may work ridiculously long hours, carry the weight of the world on your shoulders for several clients at a time and may have no other option than to eat not-so-good for you meals on-the-go or maybe not even have time to eat anything at all and we are likely all over caffeinating.

As a client, perhaps a Bride, planning an events can be a lot on your plate too. You may be working a full time job in addition to planning your wedding, which can often feel like a full time second job, even with an event planner. So many meetings, so many decisions to be made, family dynamics, budgeting and of course the big day itself can take a toll - you may need to detox those extra glasses of champagne that you had as you finally unwind to enjoy it all.

All of this can really be harsh on your body and your immune system. It's important to keep your system ph balanced and flourishing with the proper nutrients so you can keep on trucking!

Over the past few years, I have tried to be pretty regular about drinking warm water with lemon in the morning, before I have my coffee. I've also tried other detox beverages to help with boosting my immune system, boosting energy, aiding digestion, clear skin, clean organs, etc - such as plain ole' shots of apple cider vinegar, zesty shots of lemon, ginger & cayenne and my favorite thing for an immunity booster - lemon, ginger, honey tea.

I came upon a great twist to my current morning detox lemon water from a blog post by Natural Stacks - adding a little extra sour & a little spice to my warm lemon water. This recipe was one of the BioHacks of the week and Ryan Munsey's (Natural Stacks) best takeaways from the Bulletproof Conference .

I've been using all of these ingredients in various ways, but this recipe combines these superfood ingredients into one delicious (or not so delicious) cup! Natural Stacks called it the"AM Detox Drink," but as I stir this together and serve it to my husband (and myself), we refer to it is our "Morning Detox Elixir" - you get the point...drink it in the morning to detox! Now, if only we could get the kids to take a swig or two!

AM Detox Drink Recipe:

  • 1 cup of warm water
  • 1 teaspoon Himalayan sea salt
  • 1 TBSP organic lemon juice
  • 1 TBSP raw apple cider vinegar
  • Dash of organic cayenne pepper
  • *can add raw honey too if you like it spicy & sweet
  • *you can even add turmeric for an extra healthy boost

Why The "AM Detox Drink" works:

  • Warm water dilates (opens) blood vessels and digestive systems. It promotes "regular" digestion, while cold liquid would do the opposite and we don’t want that.
