YOGA WITH LIV
Liv began her yoga practice in 2001 in Los Angeles initially as a means of finding balance in her high stress event planning career. She developed a more regular practice in 2008 while pregnant with her first child as she truly began to notice the connectivity of the mind, body and spirit. Since then she has kept a steady practice of her own as well as a way to bond with her husband and two children.
After 17 years of juggling the busy life of an Event Producer, Creative Director, Designer, Entrepreneur, work-a-holic, wife and mother of two, Liv hit a wall and was feeling a tad burned out. "I have always felt lucky to have had a career that I actually loved and had a blast everyday. I lived and breathed it as the proud owner of Liv by Design and The Good Life Furniture Collection." But after the second kiddo, she hit a wall trying to juggle it all on full speed and took a mental reprieve by going to Yoga Teacher Training.
Liv wanted to learn to breathe again, to find balance, to dive deeper into her yogic study, explore something new, better her yoga practice, which is something that has always helped her keep her sanity and truly, she wanted to become re-inspired.
In 2015, Liv decided to further explore her love for yoga and did her teacher training through Del Sol Yoga YTT, under the guidance of Claudia Castro-Leverett, Thomas Leverett and Erica Holzman. This experience transformed her practice into a passion. Once this door was opened there was no turning back. She absolutely fell in love with Yoga once it became more than her twice a week practice. Liv loves the philosophy, the breath, the sweat, the sweetness, the stillness, the flow, the love, the peace, the community, the spirituality....she loves it all...and most of all she loves sharing it all with others as a teacher, helping others find their life balance and their inner peace. If anyone understands how Yoga can help balance your life whether you are in the corporate world, planning your wedding or raising kids, it is Liv.
Liv is certified and registered with Yoga Alliance as a RYT-200 and teaches Hot Vinyasa, Slow Burn (a blind folded, slow and low practice), Ashtanga, Yin and Yin-Yasa at several studios around Austin as well as for weddings, events, workshops, retreats and/or private sessions.
Her classes offer a fun and engaging combination of strength and balance, focusing on creative flows and breath work. You can expect to move, rise to challenges and focus on the subtleties of alignment through a mindful and vigorous practice. Liv believes the most important aspect of yoga is the breath; the very essence of life. "The breath links our mind, body and spirit, and has an enormous effect on our mental, physical and emotional bodies. We can use breath to create different states in the body, as well as direct our energy in different ways."
Liv is enthusiastic about sharing the power of yoga with others and her dedication to yoga comes through in every class. The disciplined and mindful practice of yoga has transformed how she relates to the world and people around her. It has helped guide her closer to her true authentic self. But even more importantly, it is through the practice of yoga that she realized the tremendous benefits of meditation and a divine spiritual connection.
Liv is dedicated to her continued yogic study and practice off the mat - she is always reading yoga philosophy books, attending workshops and adding certifications to her credentials. She is a Certified Meditation Teacher and offers meditation workshops and classes. She is passionate about helping others find peace and joy within themselves through yoga, breath and meditation.
Liv is also a Certified Kids Yoga Teacher specializing in prenatal & postnatal yoga as well as family yoga, toddler yoga, kid & tween/teen yoga. She believes that yoga is a strong foundation that offers children the proper tools to cope with the natural ups and downs of life as they grow - breathing techniques, body and emotional awareness, meditation and a strong, healthy body of their own to be proud of. Naturally she is applying these yogic principles to raising her own two children to be mindful, loving, compassionate human beings.
Off the mat, Liv is a foodie and has always enjoyed cooking. She is a health enthusiast and loves exploring plant based cooking and helping others transform their health and lifestyles with a holistic, whole foods, plant based approach. She loves music, traveling, reading, meditation, yoga, boxing, CrossFit, Pilates, hiking and outdoor adventures with her husband, Reynold and their children Jacob (10), Lochlynn (4) and their two dogs.
Fun facts...Liv and her son were featured on the cover of Austin Fit Magazine in 2011, earning the title of "Austin's Fittest Mom," which also secured her an interview on the local news station in a segment called "Mom to Mom," which was focused on helping moms find ways to weave health and fitness into their busy lives. She and her children were featured again in Austin Fit Magazine in 2015 in an article about prenatal yoga called "Bumping It Up." Liv is grateful to be connected with the community and loves raising her children in the fun-loving, health-focused, progressive city of Austin! She is also the Owner of Liv by Design, an event design firm and The Good Life Furniture Collection, an event furniture rental company.
Liv Toepfer believes that with a regular yoga & meditation practice, the skills we cultivate on our mat, strength, patience, flexibility, discipline, compassion; these are the skills we need to take off our mat and into our life; these are the skills we need to live our authentic blueprint with our hearts wide open....keeping the zen in this "mamma-preneur's" life is the key to the success and balance for the many hats she wears! She believes with yoga and meditation, anything is possible!
